There was a time when every Bollywood film release was accompanied by hand-painted, cinema posters. One could see the vivid posters on display on street corners, walls, electricity poles and not to forget the towering billboard versions. These posters, painted in oil on canvas, always presented a larger than life image of the hero, heroine and the villain. Over the past couple of decades, digital production of movie posters has forced the art of creating every single poster by hand close to extinction. But there are some individuals who are trying to preserve this art form for the future generations by collecting and exhibiting old posters and by providing a platform to the last remaining artists. These curators and artists cater to the demands of fans who are charmed by the magic of Hindi movies. Flip through the pages to live through these magical moments! About the Author Anjali Raghbeer, a London Business School alumnus, is a well-known scriptwriter and a much loved children?s author.
