Indian politics and the Indian economy underwent major changes during the years that Rajiv Gandhi and P. V. Narsimha Rao led the Congress Party and were Prime Ministers. The author had a unique vantage point during this period both as a Professor at Delhi University and as a Member of the Rajya Sabha.
