About the Author Dr. Arthur Lavin trained at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has specialized in the practice of pediatrics and newborn medicine for over twenty years. Lavin is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Lavin has also been very active in the community, serving on leadership councils locally, as well as national committees for the American Academy of Pediatrics. Susan Glaser is the Director of the Jewish Community Center's (JCC) Early Childhood Department in Cleveland, a position she has held since 1999. She supervised a grant-funded research project designed to educate new parents about children's neurological development and how it relates to play and daily interaction. In addition, she develops and teaches classes on parenting, and publishes a monthly newsletter on parenting for the Jewish Community Center of Cleveland. She is currently the chairperson for the Infant/Toddler Network for the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE). She has a Master's degree in Educational Psychology, and has more than 35 years of hands-on experience as a teacher or preschool director.
