Contemporary Fiction

Lethality of beauty and inner radiance brutally felled, after several dastardly attempts on her life in different cities of the world, Kamini, the firebrand leader of the emerging new party, the icon of the youth, the idol of the world of glitter and glamour, the revered social reformer, the enigmatic wife of the dreaded underworld Don Harsh Jadhav, assassinated by unidentified gunmen at the unlikeliest of places, right at the front door in the porch of her own house. With mere two mortal shots, death had snatched her from life and what a life! She could launch a million ships, both with her beauty and her exceptional brilliance. A fulsome life but a born rebel. Defiantly left all this to marry a man she loved, a man, she was to learn rather late in the day, was the son of one of the most feared mobsters in the country. A woman who went beyond, beyond the societal mores in her passionate relationships. Then, then the world did not remain the same. A saga began. A saga of revenge and hope, of aspirations and betrayals, of human tragedies and triumphs. A story of tall men and even taller women where heroes are not only heroes and villains are not only villains. Story of Kamini, more powerful in death than even in life.

About the Author
After his university education in India, he launched himself in the corporate world before migrating to London where he did various things during his fifteen years sojourn. A civil servant with the British Government, broadcaster with the BBC, maker of documentaries and several ad-films, owner and creative director of an advertising agency and finally the producer, writer and the director of his first Hindi feature film, Ek Baar Phir. It was this film, his first foray in the regular Hindi cinema that India embraced wholeheartedly, which became his return ticket to his motherland. Kolkata was to reward the film with a Golden jubilee in addition to several Silver Jubilees in other metro towns of India. Re-established in India, Vinod went on to make eight more films including much talked about - Yeh Nazdeekiyan and SINS. He also made four TV serials including the highly noted - Air Hostess and Reporter. Besides, he headed as the Chief Commissioning Editor and the Director of Programmes, the launch team of a private network TV in India during the late nineties. He has been the chairman of the jury of several important film awards events, including the Committee for selecting the Indian entry for the iconic Oscar Awards, more than once. Though he has been a closet writer for pretty long, his aspirations as a full-fledged author of an English novel are fructifying for the first time with Don's Wife.
