The story of Fifty Shades of Grey (Hindi) revolves around the protagonist Anastasia Steele, a 21-year-old naive college student. Anastasia volunteers to interview a 27-year-old successful entrepreneur named Christian Grey in lieu of her ill roommate and best friend. What comes next was completely unexpected for Anastasia, she gets immediately and immensely attracted and at the same time intimidated by the young business tycoon. She rushes through the interview and and nervously heads back home hoping to never see him again.
Christian Grey, in the meantime, is equally smitten by the innocence of Anastasia and cannot get her out of his mind. Christian agrees to do a photo shoot to accompany the article he was interviewed for. Anastasia finds herself drawn to him and Christian is unable to resist her beauty and innocence too. However, Christian does not intend on indulging in a typical relationship. He presents Anastasia with a non-disclosure contract stating that their relationship would be a purely physical, non-romantic, dominant/submissive relationship.
Anastasia was initially shocked by Christian's erotic tastes and sexual fantasies but she soon gets used to it and the couple embark on a daring and passionate physical affair. The novel topped bestseller lists across the globe, and has sold over ninety million copies worldwide. It has also been translated into over fifty two languages, and is being adapted into a film, which is scheduled to release in early 2015. Born and raised in Buckinghamshire, James procured a degree in History from the University of Kent. She featured in the The 100 Most Influential People in the World list by Time Magazine in 2012, and won the 2012 National Book Award, in addition to topping the Forbes' list of the highest earning authors in 2013. She currently resides in London with her husband, Niall Leonard, and their two sons.
