अशोक साहनी देश में कलार्इ घड़ी डायल उद्योग के स्तंभ हैं। इसके अलावा उनके विशिष्ट गुणों में उर्दू शेरो-शायरी, सही मायनों में जोखिम लेने वाली उद्यमशीलता और भाषा विशेषज्ञता शामिल हैं। उनका हँसमुख स्वभाव हर एक तथा सभी के लिए आनंद देने वाला है। उन्होंने एक सच्चे उद्यमी के रूप में 1965 में लन्गनडॉर्फ़ वॉच कंपनी, स्विट्जरलैंड से महत्त्वपूर्ण अनुभव पाने के बाद देश में 1970 में पहली बार कलार्इ घड़ी डायल निर्माण इकार्इ स्थापित की। एक सच्चे देशभक्त के नाते उनका मूल इरादा आयात पर निर्भरता कम करना था। अब ऐसी पाँच इकाइयाँ चल रही हैं और उनमें 2000 कर्मचारी कार्यरत हैं। वर्तमान में वे स्विस मिलिट्री के विश्व स्तरीय य हैं, जो कि स्विट्ज़रलैंड का अत्यधिक लोकप्रिय और बड़े पैमाने पर सफल एक अहम लाइफ़स्टाइल रिटेल ब्रांड है। विश्व के लगभग 15 देशों में इनके उत्पाद का विक्रय होता है। वे कर्इ संस्थाओं के ट्रस्टी का कार्यभार भी कुशलतापूर्वक निभा रहे हैं। आपको आर्इ एस ओ 902 द्वारा प्रमाणित होकर मार्गदर्शक पथ पर अग्रसारित होते हुए 2002 के ‘उद्योग पत्र सम्मान’ द्वारा औद्योगिक विकास व व्यापार संस्था ने सम्मानित किया है। श्री साहनी सात भाषाओं में दक्ष हैं और पूरी तरह प्रबुद्ध कवि हैं। उनकी प्रमुख मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालयों तथा उर्दू के सम-सामयिक वरिष्ठ शायरों ने भूरि—भूरि प्रशंसा की है। वे इन सामाजिक संगठनों में प्रमुख ज़िम्मेदारियों का निर्वहन कर रहे हैं: मुख्य संरक्षक: ज़ाकिर हुसैन ट्रस्ट (अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय से संबद्ध) ट्रस्टी: गुरु तेग बहादुर इंटरनेशनल ट्रस्ट।.

Ashok Sawhney, a leading name in the Indian watch-making industry, has other remarkable qualities apart from entrepreneurship: he us a multi linguist and writes excellent Urdu poetry.
A veteran industrialist, Ashok established his first wrist-watch manufacturing unit in India in 1970, after gaining valuable experience at the Langendorf Watch Company in Switzerland. As a true nationalist, his objective was to reduce dependence on imports. Today, his five watch-making units employ over 2000 people. Ashok is Global President of Swiss Military, the luxury retail brand from Switzerland, which sells its products in 15 countries worldwide, He was awarded the 'Udyog Patra Samman' by the Institute of Trade and Industrial Development in 2002.
Ashok is fluent in seven languages. His Urdu poetry is highly acclaimed and has found patrons in contemporary Urdu poets and prominent Muslim universities alike. He is the author of Surbhi Suman, which is a collection of classic Urdu poetry and Kya, Kyun, Kaise? - a compilation of question and answers on commonly observed Indian customs.
