The title Mumbai Mohabbat Aur Tanhai is a giveaway to the poems that the reader will come across in the book. Rajeev Paul's first published work, Mumbai Mohabbat Aur Tanhai is a collection of verses that talk about loneliness, unfulfilled desires, emptiness, and unrealised dreams.
The poetry in the book manages to strike a chord somewhere and touches the reader's heart because of its theme. It seeks to bring out the sentiments that one finds even in the banalities of everyday life. It weaves together a colourful fabric of solitude, love, separation, longing, desire, and pain. The poet also brings in a subtle reference to the political and spiritual environment in the country.
Although the name of the book mentions Mumbai, the emotions that the poet refers to clutter up day-to-day life, are common to any city, and most readers will relate to them.
The book was released in 2012 and has been read and appreciated by well known personalities like Sonu Nigam, Juhi Chawla, and Satish Kaushik. Some of Paul's poetry from Mumbai Mohabbat Aur Tanhai has been composed into songs and the song Uljha Sa Rehta Hun from the book has been nominated for the IndieGo, an international award.
All in all, Mumbai Mohabbat Aur Tanhai is a straight-from-the-heart comment on the sentiments, emotions, and the up-and-downs that make life.
