Pakistan: A Personal History is a personal narration on Pakistan's progress as a country. The book details the different events from the country's history through the perspective of Imran Khan, the author. Khan recounts his experiences of growing up and living in a country so vividly marked by internal instability. He weaves the history of his homeland along with the backdrop of his personal memories, and writes about his happy childhood, further education abroad, bachelor years, cricketing career, and turbulent marriage. He provides an insider's perspective on a country that is more often than not, seen in a negative light across the world due to its unstable status. The book speaks of how Pakistan is armed with nuclear power on one hand, while on the other, it is failing to stop the frequent bombings in its own soil. Khan explores several significant events including Pakistan's wars with India, the Iranian Revolution (1979), and the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The book was published in 2011. Imran Khan is a statesman and former cricketer from Pakistan. He was born on November 25, 1952, in Lahore. Khan graduated from Keble College, Oxford, with degrees in Politics and Economics. He went on to play international cricket for two decades. Khan joined Pakistani politics after his retirement from the game. He has two sons from his former marriage to Jemima Goldsmith.
