Love and Romance

Although the play is named after a character from Greek mythology, the story is about an unkempt girl called Eliza Doolittle. Henry Higgins is a Professor of Phonetics and he takes up the challenge of turning Eliza into a fine duchess. He has to train her to be gentle and elegant lady. The aim behind this is to make Eliza attend a garden party of an esteemed ambassador. Her speech is extremely hard to be improved upon and the professor has a hard time working towards it. The book also brings out the myriad faces of the inflexible class system of the British. A must-read book for Bernard Shaw fans.
