M. V. Deshpande, B.E. (Elec.), B.E. (Mech.), M.S. (Illinois), F.I.E.E. (London), L.S.I.E.E.E. (USA), and F.I.E. (India), served as Professor and Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, and College of Engineering, Pune. Professor Deshpande also served as the Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra, for three years. He was Director of Training, Maharashtra State Electricity Board for two years and represented India at World Power Conferences in Canada, Australia, Japan and erstwhile USSR. With about five decades of experience in various positions, the author also published numerous papers in reputed journals in India and abroad. Professor Deshpande authored seven books on Electrical Engineering during his lifetime.
