Sri Lanka (Ceylon)

As the writer travels extensively in Sri Lanka's formerly embattled regions, international stereotypes about the countries are challenged. The thirty-year civil war that ended in 2009 had shaken the island-nation beyond anyone's imagination. But now there is peace, brisk development and a new government. This title delves into what the Tamils and Sinhalese genuinely feel about their new country and what their dreams are for a better and more peaceful future. It is an insightful and unique reportage with the composed eye of a foreign correspondent who had covered the bloody conflict for more than fifteen years. It is the anecdotal chronicling of the Sri Lankans, former Tamil Tigers, meeting LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran, army generals, princes, Tamil Buddhists, secular clergymen, Sinhalese Tamils, several politicians and even sailors wary of ghosts!
