Fanny, mother of Hugh and Caddie Clavering, leaves home to go live with her lover, Rob, in another country. Her children are very upset with her decision and travel to Rob’s place on Lake Garda alone. Their intention is to bring their mother back and seeing their mother and Rob happy doesn’t stop them from trying to separate the two. They even take the help of Rob’s daughter who is more than happy to split the lovers. However, Hugh and Caddie fail to realize the consequences of their actions.
