The present volume carries the discussion forward that was initiated by the author in his book, namely, La Crise du Monde moderne. As the title of the book suggests, the author has been deeply concerned with the malady that has gripped the modern civilization. While analyzing the sickness of contemporary civilization, the author has equally concerned itself with the study of such traditional societies, particularly the societies of the Orient, which still maintain unbroken continuity between the past and the present. As to whether this historical continuity will continue into the future is a mute question, as most of the Oriental societies are giving into the pressures that Westernization has unleashed.
