Sir Charles Cartwright, a stage actor, throws a grand party at his mansion and invites all the glamorous Londoners and a few of his modest friends. After a tray of cocktails is passed around, the vicar drops dead after drinking his cocktail. But shortly after this a second death occurs under suspiciously similar circumstances and with the same set of people are present.
