Tropic Of Cancer is the tale that is based on the experiences of the author, Henry Miller, in France. It is the narration of Miller who lived in France in the 1920s and 30s and this is a first person narration, wherein the author mixes fact with fiction. The author has portrayed himself as a writer who is aiming to come forward with a book. Miller uses many sequences from his real life and his experiences while he was in Paris and other places in France. Several of his friends and also his workplaces find a mention in the story. The novel floats back and forth in time in an intriguing manner. The initial part of the narration has Miller living a nomadic life in Paris. He is constantly troubled by hunger and desolation. With him parting ways with his wife, he also finds himself lonely on the streets of Paris. In order to overcome the frustration, he meets several prostitutes and dancers at the nightclub. The sexual content is so explicit that the book was not allowed to be circulated in the United States till 1964. Henry Miller was born on December 26, 1891, in Manhattan. He has also written Black Spring and Tropic of Capricorn. Miller enrolled at the City College in New York and excelled in academics. The author dropped out of college in the first semester since he was against the traditional system of education. He moved to France and published his first book in 1934. He died on June 7, 1980.
