The book highlights the importance of integrating structural systems through reinforcement details. Sometimes, engineers are misled by long output of computers that may or may not be relevant to the actual structure. It is important that the user of structural software has the foundations of structural analysis, design and synthesis before applying the software. The book is an excellent teacher and leader in concepts, design procedures, optimal designs and integrator of detailing of reinforcement.

Dr. Pasala Dayaratnam

P. Dayaratnam obtained Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Madras University in 1956 aild Masters and Doctorate degree from University of Colorado, Boulder, USA in 1959 and 1962 respectively. He has been a member of Academic Councils of number of Universities. He authored 10 books, and published 126 Research Papers. He was awarded Sir Arthur Cotton Gold Medal, Nickolaidas Gold Medal from Institution of Engineers (India), Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award from University of Colorado, Outstanding Concrete Technology Award 1997 from Indian Concrete Institute. Outstanding Academician award 2000 from Arunai Engineering College, Tiruavnnamalai, Prestressed Concrete Design National Award from Institution of Engineers 1999. Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Dean of Research and Development, incharge of Planning of physical facilit;as at the early stages of development of IIT Kanpur. He worked as Vice-Chancellor of J.N.T. University for one term.

Dr. Pasala Sarah, Professor and Dean R&D, Vardhaman College of Engineering, is an accomplished academician with over 20 years of teaching experience blended with additional experience in Research & Administration. The Research experience includes execution of projects from DRDO, BARC in identifying materials for different needs of the Industry. The administrative experience includes Vice Principal, Dean and Head Portfolios in large Engineering College of over 2500 students. Dr. Sarah has published over 50 Papers in International and National Journals and Conferences and has organized International and National Conferences on Nanomaterials, Nanotechnology and Composite Materials. Dr. Sarah has written 4 Text books. Dr. Sarah has unique experience of blending her core competency of Materials with modern technological practices which will enable the students to Innovate, Adapt to change and Adopt to the new technologies.
