Dr. D.A. Patil is currently Reader in Botany, Post Graduate Department of Botany, S.S.V.P Sanstha' s L.K. Dr. P. R. Ghogrey Science College, Dhule (Maharashtra). Dr. Patil did his M.Sc. (1978) with 'Angiosperm' as a subject of specialization from Dr. B. A. Marathwada University, Aurangabad (Maharashtra). He obtained Ph. D. (1983) from the same university. He has published over 100 research papers in national and international journals. He authored 'Flora of Dhule and Nandurbar Districts, Maharashtra'; He is co-author of 'Forest Flora of Jalgaon District, Maharashtra' and 'Ethnobotany of Nasik District' He also published ' A key to the Angiospermic; He is member of Advisory and Editorial Boards of three national journals. He is Ex-Chairman, Board of Studies in Botany, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (M.S.). He is awarded (i) Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Award (1996) by Indian BotanicalSociety, (ii) Scientist of the Year-2004, by National Environmental Science Academy, (iii) Jivaka Ayurved Vishwa Samman (2006) by International Academy of Indian Medicine.
