Munshi Premchand's real name was Dhanpat Rai. He was born on 31 July 1880 in lamhi village in Banaras. He was born into a middle class family which made him keenly observe the poverty and disadvantages of the Middle class society. He dedicated his whole life to Hindi literature. He was honoured with the titles of a short-story writer, a novelist and a social reformer. He died on 8 October, 1936. The novel 'sevasadan' Is a very popular novel by Premchand. In this novel, Premchand has highlighted the women and their struggles fighting heroine Suman by Dowry practices, unmatched marriages, prostitution and social evils like prostitution. This struggle of Suman finally proves to be a motivation for women and society, dedicated to the service, which gives the novel The status of greatness.

Premchand, an Indian writer (novel writer, story writer and dramatist), was born in the year 1880 at 31st of July in the Lamhi village (near Varanasi). He is the famous writer of the early 20th century. He got died at 8th of October in 1936 by serving the people with his great writings. The birth name of him is Dhanpat Rai Srivastav and pen name is Nawab Rai. He wrote his all writings with his pen name. Finally his name changed to the Munshi Premchand. His first name Munshi is an honorary prefix given by his lovers in the society because of his quality and effective writings. As a Hindi writer he wrote approximately dozen novels, 250 short stories, numerous essays and translations.
