Once upon a time, there lived a simple woodcutter's son called Diggory. When a distant uncle sent Diggory the present of a horse, he said goodbye to his father and set out to seek his fortune. He christened the horse 'Invicta'. It was white, with a red saddle and bridle fit for a king, and all the village turned out to see him go.
