The Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) consolidates the law relating to foreign exchange. The objective of the FEMA is to facilitate external trade and payments and promote the orderly development and maintenance of foreign exchange markets in India. Though the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) exercises overall control over foreign exchange transactions, enforcement of FEMA has been entrusted to the 'Directorate of Enforcement'. The RBI frequently issues Rules, Regulations, and Notifications on various matters. Any change in such Rules or policy is communicated during the year by way of Circulars/Press Releases. Further, the RBI issues the Master Directions to consolidate Instructions on Rules and Regulations framed under various Acts, including foreign exchange transactions. Taxmann's Foreign Exchange Management Manual is a compendium of Amended, Updated & Annotated text of the following laws: Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 Foreign Contributions Prevention of Money Laundering Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Policy
