The science of behavior and mind is referred to as psychology. It is concerned with the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena as well as feeling and thought. Psychology aims to understand the emergent properties of brains as well as the diverse phenomena that are related to those properties. It deals with the patterns of behavior, thought and emotion in individuals. Some of the mental processes studied within this field are cognition, perception, emotion, attention, intelligence, subjective experiences, etc. Psychology also studies the unconscious mind and the psychological traits that are influenced by genetics and environment. It is classified into various sub-fields such as abnormal psychology, evolutionary psychology, forensic psychology and comparative psychology.
