Ken O'Connor

Ken O'Connor is an independent consultant specializing in grading and reporting. He has been a staff-development presenter and facilitator in the United States and Canada and in fifteen countries outside North America. Ken's thirty-three-year teaching career includes experience as a geography teacher, department head, and curriculum coordinator responsible for student assessment and evaluation. Ken's articles have appeared in the NASSP Bulletin, Educational Leadership, and Orbit. He is author of How to Grade for Learning and A Repair Kit for Grading. Ken was a curriculum coordinator responsible for student assessment and evaluation and geography for the Scarborough (Ontario) Board of Education and the Toronto District School Board and served as a consultant on secondary assessment at the Ontario Ministry of Education. Ken is husband to Marilyn, with whom he celebrated his fortieth wedding anniversary in May 2012, father to Jeremy and Bronwyn, and grandfather to twins Elliot and Vivian. Ken is a sports fanatic and has been involved in playing, umpiring, and the administration of field hockey. He was umpire for two men's field hockey matches at the 1984 Olympic Games and at the 1990 World Cup. More recently, he has become a very keen golfer and has particularly enjoyed playing Pebble Beach in California, Bandon Dunes in Oregon, Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, and the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland.
