Born: January 1, 1937 जन्म : 1 जनवरी, 1937 को राजनांदगाँव (छत्तीसगढ़) में। सृजन : पहला कविता संग्रह 1971 में लगभग जयहिन्द (पहल सीरीज़ के अन्तर्गत), वह आदमी चला गया नया गरम कोट पहनकर विचार की तरह (1981), सब कुछ होना बचा रहेगा (1992), अतिरिक्त नहीं (2000), कविता से लम्बी कविता (2001), कभी के बाद अभी (सभी कविता-संग्रह); 1988 में पेड़ पर कमरा (पूर्वग्रह सीरीज़ के अन्तर्गत) तथा 1996 में महाविद्यालय (कहानी संग्रह); नौकर की कमीज़ (1979), दीवार में एक खिड़की रहती थी, खिलेगा तो देखेंगे, हरी घास की छप्पर वाली झोपड़ी और बौना पहाड़ (सभी उपन्यास)। मेरियोला आफ्रीदी द्वारा इतालवी में अनुवादित एक कविता-पुस्तक का इटली में प्रकाशन, इतालवी में ही पेड़ पर कमरा का भी अनुवाद। इसके अलावा कुछ रचनाओं का मराठी, मलयालम, अंग्रेज़ी तथा जर्मन भाषाओं में अनुवाद।
