75 Years of Publishing in India - The book is the blend of physical and spiritual attributes of publishing in India. The book is divided into two parts- Part I and Part II.
Part I deals with publishing scenarios in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and 17 other regional Indian languages. The book would contribute to improving the dissemination of scientific knowledge as a source of possibilities for the development of societies. It aims at providing added value knowledge to the public, private, government & non-governmental institutions, associative and community fabrics, and, ultimately, society as a whole.
Part II is bifurcated into four sections-
Section A- Publishing: Socio-Cultural Aspects that deals with topics such as Authorship in India, Freedom to publish, Role of books in the knowledge society, and much more. We value these aspects because of the efforts, skills, and expertise its creator put into them.
Section B- Publishing: Its Diverse Areas enumerates different areas of publishing like K-12 Books, Children’s Books, Edutech Companies, Science and Technology, Higher Education, etc.
Section C- Publishing: Technical Aspects talks about Distribution of Books, An Overview of Indian Printing Industry, Technology in Publishing, Indian Book Market, and much more that captures your attention towards technical considerations of publishing.
Section D- Publishing: Organisational Aspects deals with a comprehensive picture of the industry and its more significant contribution to society. It will also deal with various government, semi-government and associations in the area of publishing, e.g. FIP (Federation of Indian Publishers), IRRO (Indian Reprographic Rights Organization), NBT (National Book Trust), IPA (International Publishers Association), etc.
The publishing industry has the power to shape culture in big and small ways. The people behind the books serve as gatekeepers.
