The main objective of the book is to provide students with a step-by-step module to prepare well for the examinations. It is sincere attempt to enhance the language skills of the students through all the sections-Reading Skills Writing Skills with Grammar Literature Textbook ans Extended Reading Text.
Section A: Reading Skills contains 57 unseen passages (25 Factual and 32 Descriptive) for reading comprehension. The for these passages have been carefully chosen keeping the examination pattern in mind and are useful for comprehensive learning evaluation.
Section B: Writing Skills with Grammar contains (I) Formal Letters, e. g. Letters of Complaints/Enquiry/Placing orders/Letters to the Editor and (ii) Short Story writing based on a given outline or cue/s. These compositions require different inputs, hence, detailed guidelines and tips have been provided at the start of each writing skill. These will help students practice and easily answer the questions in the examination. This section also includes a large number of solved questions for each writing skill.
Section B also includes Grammar which comprises of Tenses, Modals, Use of passive voice, Subject-verb concord, Reporting (Commands and requests, Statements and Questions), Clauses (Noun clauses, Adverb clauses and Relative clauses), Determiners and Prepositions), These items have been provided through (I) Gap filling with one or two words to test Prepositions, Articles, Conjunctions and Tenses (ii) Editing or Omission and (iii) Sentences Recording or Sentence Transformation.
Section C: Literature Textbook contains the summary of each chapter from the textbook 'Interact in English Literature Reader'. This section is a comprehensive question bank that includes questions from the text as well as additional extracts for comprehension and short and long answer questions.
Section D: the Extended Reading texts include global questions based on theme, plot and characters from both the novels prescribed by the CBSE, namely, the Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and the Story of My Life by Helen Keller. These will help students to interpret and infer the texts.
Section E: This section contains complete solutions to Main Course Book.
Section F: Complete solutions to Workbook is provided in this section.
