Santanu Kumar Acharya
Santanu Kumar Acharya, born on 15th may 1933, is considered a living legend in the field of modern Odia literature. Be it Indian philosophy, culture, religion, spiritualism or the life of contemporary man there is none other who delineates it as faithfully and as intimately as he does. He is a master story teller, novelist, travelogue writer, essayist and writer of religious literature - all blended into one. His literary oeuvre includes 15 novels, 20 short story collections, 10 book of children’s literature among others. He has been awarded with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award, Central Sahitya Akademi Award, Sarala Puraskar and Atibadi Jagannath Das Award for his magnificent contribution to Odia Literature.
Sudeshna Mohanty (b 1957), an alumnus of Miranda House, Delhi University, taught English in a college affiliated to Bangalore University for more than 30 years and retired as associate professor in 2017. She has extensively translated the short stories of Gopinath Mohanty, the doyen of Odia literature.
