Significant achievements in the fields of Science and Technology have acted as a catalyst in the process of rapid industrialization. However, industrialization has come not without a cost. The environmental degradation which we see today is the result of rapid population growth, industrialization, urbanization and unsustainable developmental projects. So much so that it is now apparent that excessively rapid industrialization is exerting such a great pressure on nature that the growth process itself is beginning to slow down. Realizing the gravity of the situation Environmental Education has now been introduced in the curriculum at all levels. This book has been written to meet the requirements of undergraduate students of the Humanities and Commerce disciplines. An effort has been made to simplify complex scientific concepts and sensitize students towards social and economic issues.
