The Laxmi Learning Planet English Reader series (Class 1--5) is a component of the Laxmi English Learning Programme (ELP). Learning Planet is a complete set of curriculum books catering to all scholastic and co-scholastic subjects recommended by NCERT at primary school level.

It has been developed for students of CBSE affiliated schools and follows the National Curriculum Framework of NCERT.

The English Reader series is based on the principles of communicative approach that aims to make learning engaging and fun. This series follows an interactive method with the help of various characters that introduce each chapter, guiding the students in the process of learning.

This series is based on a student-centric approach of "Learning to use English in everyday life", with the Learning Planet characters. It aims to cater to the linguistic and communicative needs of students, so that they can use English effectively, accurately and creatively in real-life situations to resolve their everyday problems and challenges.

The English Reader offers a rich array of literary genres from world literature, Indian literature and classics that will make English learning fun for students. It will expose students to a wide range of themes with stories that cover a gamut of ideas and experiences. The stories are accompanied by questions that will encourage classroom discussions and activities that will expand on the themes covered.

This series will help students develop the four skills of effective communication,namely, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as improve their knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation through practical application.
