Hypertension is a major contributing factor for cardiovascular diseases, stroke, kidney failure, and premature death. It is projected that 1.5 billion adults will have hypertension globally by 2025. It is a matter of utmost concern that 75% of such population will be Asians and Africans. Apart from the high prevalence, the other important issues pertinent to our part of the world are the poor awareness and abysmal treatment rates of hypertension.
