This Golden Jubilee edition of O P Varma’s book has been revised, rewritten and expanded to bring the content and methodology up-to-date. New chapters have been added in Part One of the book on topics such as structure of teaching, skill-based approach, modern approach to regional studies, sample studies, evaluation in the teaching of Geography, etc. In Part Two material on maintaining building process, vegetation belts of the world and human occupancy, latest climate classification and aerial photographs and their use have been added. The practical section has been expanded to include details about weather satellites and contours. Additional lesson plans have been included to cover different aspects of Geography teaching. Questions have been updated and the bibliography presented in the regular format. Some of the maps have been redrawn and some additional maps and diagrams have also been included. As the book deals with two aspects of the teaching of Geography, namely, methodology and content, it will be useful both to the teachers of Geography in schools as well as to B.Ed. students of universities. Care has been taken to include the various units of the B.Ed. syllabus followed in many of the universities in India.
