Freedom & Security

The internal security of the country is at great stake, specially due to the spread of Naxalism/Maoism in many states. The cycle of violence for years has caused economic imbalance and the security expenditure of the country has risen manifold. The CPI – Maoist is the main group in most of the states. The Left-Wing Extremists utilize the working class/tribals for their victory in elections. Maoists have become terrorists and have been confronting the police and target the state in their armed actions in an organised manner, violating all legal provisions. It is a fact that the police in various states, are trying their best to tackle Naxalite violence. Para-military forces have been deputed in large numbers by the Central Government in the affected states to prevent violence by the Naxalites. There is some success here and there and violence has come down. The Central Government has adopted an integral four-point approach to tackle the problem in the areas of security, development, enforcing rights and entitlement of local communities, public perception management and good governance. Ministry of Home Affairs is monitoring the situation at war footing and having constant liaison with high-ups of the affected states of Chhattisgarh, Telengana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. This book gives a detailed analysis of all these aspects starting from Genesis and Ideology of Maoists, Operational Tactics, Tackling Naxals in various states, Major Maoist Attacks in India, Tactical Measures, Government Plan and Executive Measures, etc. to tackle this menace through a holistic approach, ultimately focussing on development and security. The book will be helpful to the policy-makers, administrators, Panchayat representatives, academicians and other authorities entrusted with the task of solving the problem of Naxalism in India.
