CHAPTER OPENER: Opening image(s) of each chapter previews the science one will be learning about. Chapter Preview gives an idea of what one will be learning about. What you will learn lists the major topics one will be learning about. Why it is important to learn states why one is studying this in the first place! Warm-up is an opportunity to check what one already knows. CHAPTER SECTIONS: Each chapter is divided into two to three sections based on the number of learning objectives of the chapter. Headings of main topics are in the form of questions to encourage enquiry-based learning. Interspersed within sections are Real-world Connect! Look It Up! Language Check, Science Fact, Green Check and Do You Know? to promote extended learning and provide opportunities to further explore the topics. Test It Yourself! encourages one to first make predictions and then test one’s ideas, leading to ‘Aha’ moments of self discovery. Section Review asks questions about key concepts to help assess the learning objectives of a section before moving to the next section.
