O P Sharma

Dr. O.P. Sharma, the author of this book, with his 36 research articles published in national and international journals, 38 books written for university students, and 40 years of teaching experience, is an able researcher, established Indian author, and an experienced teacher. Over a dozen of Dr Sharma's books have been published through internationally known publishers such as McGraw-Hill and Macmillan. He has also revised Economic Botany, an internationally renowned text by the late Professor Albert F Hill (Harvard University, USA), a publication of McGraw-Hill, New York. Dr. Sharma's books on Practical Botany, released first in 1972 and still continuing, have received appreciations from some eminent botanists including J D Dodge (England), T Christensen (Denmark), J M Herr (USA) and C R Metcalfe (England). Since the inception of the recently introduced National Education Policy- 2020 of Government of India, 4 books of Dr. Sharma on Practicals for 4 semesters (I to IV) have been released through Pragati Prakashan, Meerut, and all these 4 are strictly according to the syllabus for undergraduate students of Botany. Immediately after completing his postgraduation (MSc) in Botany with first division from CCS University, Meerut, and thereafter obtaining a PhD from the same university, Dr Sharma started his teaching career in 1967 as a faculty member of the Botany Department, Meerut College, Meerut and retired from active services as an Associate Professor from the same department in 2007. Besides attending several national and international workshops, symposia and conferences during the four decades of his teaching career, Dr Sharma is still enjoying his post-retirement innings as an active author.
