William Strunk Jr.

William Strunk Jr. an American English professor at Cornell University, authored "The Elements of Style", revised by his former student E. B. White, it became the influential "Strunk & White" guide. Strunk earned degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Cornell University, taught at Cornell for 46 years, and published several critical editions. He married Olivia Locke and had three children, including musicologist Oliver Strunk.
