The shining path of peru (Sendero Luminosa) lost its leadership cadre and founding leader to counter-terrorism efforts by the Peruvian government in 1993.

Dr. S.K. Awasthi is a scholar and political thinker having vast knowledge of the subject and contemporary issues related to his field of interest. He did his MA and PhD in Political Science from Allahabad University and having an opportunity to get Post-Doctoral Degree in the same discipline from Singapore. He taught political science in the prestigious Indian University and at present he is serving as an Emeritus Professor. He has attended several seminars and presented papers.
