The Secret Garden was originally written by Frances Hodgson Burnett and published in 1911. The story emphasises the powers of love, joy, mystical faith and positive thinking.

The Secret Garden: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) is about a girl named Mary who is sent to live on her uncle’s estate in the Yorkshire moors after the death of her parents. There, in the ruins of a walled garden, she discovers a room where she finds a cousin named Colin, whom she never knew existed. Colin was locked up, ignored and abandoned to die by her father. Mary and the housemaid’s son, Dickon, befriend Colin and restore the garden, which to their surprise, opens up a world of magic.
