शिक्षा: राजनीतिशास्त्र में एम.ए., एम. फिल., पी-एच.डी. (दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय)। मांट्रियाल (कनाडा) स्थित मैक्गिल विश्वविद्यालय में साढ़े चार वर्ष तक शोध व अध्यापन। शोध का विषय: ‘भारत में आधुनिकता का विमर्श’। सेंट स्टीफेन्स कॉलेज से अध्यापन का आरम्भ करके डेढ़ दशक तक दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय में पढ़ाया। सम्प्रति इन्दिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय (इग्नू) में प्रोफेसर, स्कूल ऑव जेन्डर एंड डेवलेपमेंट स्टडीज़ की संस्थापक निदेशक रहीं। हिन्दी व अंग्रेज़ी में सामाजिक-राजनीतिक परिदृश्य, स्त्री-विमर्श और अन्य वैचारिक मुद्दों पर निरन्तर लेखन। अनेक शोध-पत्र और कविताएँ अन्तरराष्ट्रीय पत्र-पत्रिकाओं में प्रकाशित। पहला कविता संग्रह ‘अपने जैसा जीवन’ (2001) हिन्दी अकादमी, दिल्ली द्वारा पुरस्कृत। दूसरे कविता संग्रह ‘नींद थी और रात थी’ (2005) पर रज़ा सम्मान। दो द्विभाषिक काव्य-संग्रह ‘रोविंग टुगेदर’ (अंग्रेज़ी-हिन्दी) तथा ‘ज़ स्वी ला मेजों दे जेत्वाल (फ्रेंच-हिन्दी) 2008 में प्रकाशित। अंग्रेज़ी में कवयित्रियों के अन्तरराष्ट्रीय चयन ‘सेवेन लीव्स, वन ऑटम’ (2011) का सम्पादन जिसमें प्रतिनिधि कविताएँ शामिल। 2012 में प्रतिनिधि कविताओं का चयन ‘पचास कविताएँ: नयी सदी के लिए चयन’ शृंखला में प्रकाशित। फाउंडेशन ऑव सार्क राइटर्स ऐंड लिटरेचर के मुखपत्र ‘बियांड बोर्डर्स’ का अतिथि सम्पादन। कनाडा में रिहाइश के बाद दो वर्ष का ब्रिटेन प्रवास। फ्रांस, जर्मनी, बेल्जियम, हॉलैंड और मध्यपूर्व तथा अफ्रीका के देशों की यात्राएँ जिस दौरान विशेष व्याख्यान दिये।.
