कश्मीर के बारामूला में पैदा हुए मानव कौल की परवरिश मध्य प्रदेश के होशंगाबाद में हुई। 2004 में \'अरण्य’ नाम के एक ख़्वाब का जन्म हुआ। मानव के क़ाबिल निर्देशन में \'शक्कर के पाँच दाने’ और \'पार्क’ जैसे नाटकों के साथ \'अरण्य’ ने तेज़ी से देश-विदेश के थिएटर सर्किट में माक़ूल जगह बनाई। \'पीले स्कूटर वाला आदमी’ नाटक में मानव ने अपने लेखन में उस काव्यात्मक लहज़े और अंदाज़ को अपनाया जिसकी तुलना आलोचकों ने निर्मल वर्मा और विनोद कुमार शुक्ल की लेखन-शैली से की। 2003 में \'जजंत्रम ममंत्रम’ से फ़िल्मी करियर की शुरुआत हुई। 2013 में रिलीज़ हुई फ़िल्म \'काई पो चे’ में इनके अभिनय को ख़ूब सराहना मिली। 2016 में \'वज़ीर’ और \'जय गंगाजल’ में बड़े पर्दे पर इनके अभिनय की ख़ूब चर्चा रही। इनकी पहली किताब \'ठीक तुम्हारे पीछे’ साल 2016 की सर्वाधिक पसंद की गई कहानियों की किताब रही। यह इनकी दूसरी किताब है।
