The book ‘Bharat Ratna Radhakrishnan: A Quest for Being in Becoming’ navigates through philosophical contributions of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and explores their impact on modern thought and ways of life. The book presents various aspects of life and contributions together the articulated expressions of authors on the life and works of Bharat Ratna Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Apart from covering a wide variety of pertaining concerns, the major thrust of the book has been the common humanity of mankind and the indestructible world of spirit. The rampant chaos, crisis and contradictions in societies are developing because of the absence of proper respect for the inner self. Equality, fraternity and liberty are the centricities acceptable to the kingdom of God that S. Radhakrishnan emphasizes in his philosophical doctrines.

‘Bharat Ratna Radhakrishnan: A Quest for Being in Becoming’ is a collection that serves as roots for the aspirational India in becoming. S. Radhakrishnan influenced the history of the world by raising the culture of the mind. Reading him makes a person tune to eternity and live life not in measures but in the substantiality of the spirit. Living life without reading and listening to a great philosopher, a writer like him is to face the sea of life without anchors. Scintillating ideas in his work cross the skies of the mind like brilliant lightning leaving us with a revitalized breath and vision. As a scholar and freedom fighter,

S. Radhakrishnan struggled against the British by recapturing the ancient wisdom of the Vedas, Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita. He bridged it with the rationality of the West, helping the world and the Indians understand the infinite worth of the creations of the mind infused with the spirit serving through intelligence. He exhorted both East and West to widen the horizons of their understanding and sympathy. The gist of the writings of S.Radhakrishnan is in making spirituality, a reality.

As a teacher, he transformed the lives he mentored. He carried the same dignity, virtue and scholarly stature in politics. Serving from the highest office of the President of India, he protected India, nurtured politicians and raised the reputation of the country. India was heard through him, understood through him and valued for her spirituality, religion and philosophy through his speeches and writings. India remembers him as a ‘Teacher’, celebrating his birthday on 5th September as the Teachers’ Day. Culturally, teacher in India is associated as the second parent of the individual giving birth to the soul.  S.  Radhakrishnan gave Indians a birth in the soul.
