Dr. P. Perumal
Dr. P. Perumal, presently working as Professor and Head of Civil Engineering, Vignan University, Vadlamudi, Guntur District, graduated in Civil Engineering from A.C. College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi and took his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering and PhD (1995), under the guidance of Dr. R. Vaidyanathan, from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. After a short period of field work, he entered Polytechnic Teaching and served for seven years. For about thirty years he had taught Civil Engineering in the Government Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu. Later he served as Professor and Principal in Self Financing Colleges. He has forty years of teaching experience in total to his credit. He has published 85 technical papers in journals and conferences. He has visited Singapore and leading universities in the United Kingdom. Nine PhDs were awarded under his guidance. He has authored six books along with Dr. R. Vaidyanathan and four more books for +2 vocational stream students of Draughtsman (Civil) course for the Directorate of School Education, Tamil Nadu. He has acted as Assistant Controller of Examinations, Zonal Officer, Chairman-Board of studies, Member-Academic Council, Estate Officer and as Convener/Member in several committees including AICTE Inspection Committee.
Dr. R. Vaidyanathan
Dr. R. Vaidyanathan is a former Principal of Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He had taught Civil Engineering, for about five decades. He graduated from A.C. College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi in 1959 and took his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy where he also taught later.
He did his doctorate in the area of Shell Structures from IIT, Madras in the early seventies. He has published several technical papers, guided the undergraduates and masters projects and supervised three PhDs. He has visited many parts of the United States of America and Europe. He has authored three books on Structural Analysis and three more books on Mechanics of Solids and Structures. The books are well received by the students and recognized and prescribed by most of the universities, in a very short period.
