जॉर्ज सैम्यूअल क्लासन का जन्म लूसियाना, मिसूरी में नवंबर 1874 में हुआ I उन्होंने नेब्रास्का यूनिवर्सिटी में शिक्षा ली और स्पेनिश-अमेरिकन युद्ध के दौरान अमेरिकी सेना में काम किया I वे एक सफल व्यवसायी थे और उन्होंने डेनवर, कोलोरेडो में क्लासन मैप कंपनी शुरू की, जिसने अमेरिका तथा कनाडा का पहला रोड एटलस प्रकाशित किया I 1926 में उन्होंने बचत और आर्थिक सफलता की पहली कहानी लिखी, जिसके पात्र प्राचीन बेबिलॉन के थे I इन कहानियों को बैंकों तथा बीमा कंपनियों ने बड़ी संख्या में अपने ग्राहकों में बाँटा I लाखों लोगों ने इन कहानियों की पढ़ा और इनसे लाभ उठाया I इन कहानियों को पढ़ा और इनसे लाभ उठाया I इन कहानियों में सबसे प्रसिद्द कहानी "बैबिलॉन का सबसे अमीर आदमी" है, जो इस पुस्तक का शीर्षक है I बैबिलॉन की ये कहानियाँ आधुनिक युग की प्रेरक क्लासिक का दर्जा पा चुकी हैं I
