A masterpiece of Stoic philosophy, Meditations is the personal journal of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius—written not for an audience, but as a guide for his own moral and spiritual growth. In these powerful reflections, he explores timeless themes of duty, resilience, humility, and inner peace amidst the challenges of ruling an empire. Honest, profound, and enduringly relevant, Meditations offers practical wisdom for anyone seeking clarity, strength, and purpose in a chaotic world.
Marcus Aurelius
MARCUS AURELIUS (121–180 AD) was born Marcus Annius Verus in Rome. In 161, he became the ruler of the Roman Empire. He was one of the last of the rulers later known as the Five Good Emperors, and his reign brought a period of relative peace, calm, and stability for the Roman Empire. Aurelius breathed his last in 180. At the time of his death, he was one of the most powerful people on earth.
