William Makepeace Thackeray

William Makepeace Thackeray (1811–1863) was a renowned English novelist, famous for his satirical portrayal of society. His most celebrated work, ‘Vanity Fair’ (1847–1848), is a sharp critique of the British aristocracy and social ambition. The novel follows the lives of two women, the cunning Becky Sharp and the naive Amelia Sedley, as they navigate love, betrayal, and class. Thackeray’s witty narrative and vivid characters make *Vanity Fair* a timeless exploration of human folly and societal values.
