Biography And Autobiography

The story is about the struggles of a bisexual man who did not dare to come out in the fifties and sixties for various reasons. At that time, it was not a socially acceptable thing and was actually a taboo. So, he tucks in his feelings and lives the life of a 'normal' man, fulfilling his military service, going to college, and working as a representative of medicines. Besides the socially was this the second reason not to come out of the closet. How customers, in that time, would react? With the necessary anecdotes, this book describes this normal life.

Jakum

The writer, born in 1947 in The Hague, grew up at a time when homosexuality was still a taboo in the Netherlands. Already in high school, he noticed his interest in the other boys. He studied chemistry at the University of Utrecht. Then, he joined his father’s business and started building that up. He also married a nice woman and had two sons (and by now, five grandsons). Now homosexuality is accepted in the Netherlands, the sons have their own families’ and the company has been transferred to them, the feelings for men get the upper hand, and he comes out of the closet. But then he is over 65 years old already. He decided to do voluntary work in India and met a man with whom he felt connected at once. He struggles to survive as many join him on his journeys in India but faces similar stereotypes as he did fifty years ago in the Netherlands. He lives together with his partner as much as possible, both in India and in the Netherlands
