A collection of fascinating tales from various religions and scriptures that have stood the test of time
One may well ask - Why do we need stories when the great scriptures are still available? It is not that we cannot grasp profound values and truths when they are put across to us, it is just that a story is a speaking picture and it helps us relate to the universal predicaments and the common human values that the characters and situations in the story depict.
Love, friendship, laughter, compassion, understanding and tolerance may be threatened in todays world marked by violence, strife, conflict and bloodshed. They may appear old-fashioned and irrelevant to some people, but they will always be with us, lighting up our darkest moments and bringing hope and happiness when we need them the most.
Over the ages, immortal stories have taken the great religious truths and precepts right into hearts of the people. Hence, such stories are a treasure that we cannot and must not lose. These stories can lead to greater peace and harmony among members of different faiths. This collection of timeless stories from the diverse faiths of the world such as, Bah, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism and Sikhism, is an attempt to interest the readers in the wonderful art form of storytelling. This collection brings together stories from the great scriptures, parables narrated by the enlightened ones, as well as incidents from the lives of the great souls from the East and the West.
