Literature and art has been an important part of the Indian culture. India boasts great mythological epics and classic literary works. Hindi, the national language of India, has seen some classic writers and novelists such as Munshi Premchand.
Kashinath Singh is one such famous Hindi writer who has written much about the famous city, Varanasi, which is situated on the banks of river Ganges. Most of his literary work is related to this beautiful holy city, and therefore he has been credited to be the best chronicler of this holy city of Kashi Vishwanath.
This novel, Rehan Par Ragghu, explores a relationship story set in the modern context. There are numerous relationships that every person in the world has. Some of them are forged from birth onwards by blood, while many of these are the ones that people create in their lifetimes according to their choices and tastes.
According to the writer, people ultimately come to realize that the relations that they create over their lifetimes are the ones that help as much if not more than blood relations. This crucial fact has been highlighted subtly by this noted author in this book.
The book, Rehan Par Ragghu, was published by Rajkamal Prakashan in Hindi. The book was published as a paperback in the year 2010.
Kashinath Singh won the Sahitya Academy Award for Rehan par Ragghu.
