Abnormal Psychology is considered to be one of the most authoritative texts ever written on this subject. This is the thirteenth edition and provides a comprehensive and updated insight on the subject. This updated version of the book comes with more than 1800 references. Besides providing a general overview of the subject, the book also discusses various other relevant issues related to it and also provides case studies. Historical and contemporary views of abnormal behavior have been explored by the authors. The readers will also get to know about clinical assessment, viewpoints of abnormal psychology, causal factors, therapies, and legal issues related to abnormal psychology. There are several kinds of disorders linked to abnormal psychology and many of those have been discussed here. These include stress and adjustment disorders, health problems, cognitive disorders, schizophrenia, obesity, personality disorders, eating disorders, and psychotic disorders. One of the salient features of the book is its ‘Special feature boxes’, which include developments in research, in thinking, and in practice. These explore the latest events in the field, the newest methodologies being used in the research field, the applications of the research in day-to-day life, and the latest findings and technologies. Also DSM-IV-TR boxes have been used to paraphrase the criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of those mental disorders that have been included in this book.
