While the men in her family joined the resistance, the women fled to Kabul where she and the rest had to struggle every day of their lives. This struggle included living in severe conditions of the Pakistani refugee camps, marrying to pay off gambling debts made by her brother, selling her body and begging so she could feed her family and an attempt at suicide.
