When Rachel’s son, eight-year-old Ben, goes missing, she wonders where the boy could have gone in such a short time. Her world is falling apart as she doesn’t know if her son is alive or dead. Meanwhile, the whole world turns against her and she realizes that everything she once knew is really a big lie. There is a police investigation to find her son while Rachel is dealing with the nasty people who blame her for her son’s disappearance. Everything around Rachel, whether it was about herself or the people around her, has always been a lie and she is now alone. She must find her son alive and get majority of the public opinion if she needs to fight her battle.

Gilly MacMillan completed a course in History of Art from Bristol University. She has worked at The Burlington Magazine and the Hayward Gallery. She now works as a part-time lecturer in A – Level Photography. Burnt Paper Sky is her first novel
