Tata McGraw - Hill Education
While the rags to riches story of Dhirubhai's immense success as a self made entrepreneur and founder of an industrial empire is truly awe inspiring, what fascinates even more, are the reasons responsible for his phenomenal achievements.
Dhirubhai's story of success, rising from his humble beginnings in a small Gujarat town, to running a Fortune 500 company, stems from his principled views on his work and life. His unique work philosophy that set him apart from his contemporaries, can be rightly attributed as the secret of his success, and can serve as an exemplary reminder for millions of Indians to get inspired by.
Dhirubhaism, penned by a close associate of Dhirubhai, is an uplifting book which sums up his work philosophy and the inner workings of his mind presented as 15 Dhirubhaisms in this book. This book, rather than focussing on his life or providing a step-by-step account of how he built his business, delves into his mind, and thinking process, that formed the backbone of his keen business acumen and entrepreneurial skills.
Beginning with a background on Dhirubhai Ambani, who without any formal education succeeded in establishing a hugely successful business empire, Dhirubhaism, describes and spells out the 15 Dhirubhaisms, each one forming an individual chapter. The 6th chapter or Dhirubhaism, on Supply Creates Demand, points to his risk taking abilities, and unique ability to set new benchmarks and instill new philosophies, as opposed to the run-of-the-mill traditional ones, while another one, namely, Be a Silent Benefactor advises companies to do their good deeds discreetly without much ado.
Other chapters of Dhirubhaism including, Think Big, and Be Positive, presented along with practical examples from Dhirubhai's own professional life, provide many invaluable gems of wisdom from the man himself, and are sure to inspire both employees, and bosses across different industries, generations, and nations for years to come.
